Simon gets a mysterious phone message from Detective Senior Sergeant Sparkes. When others are reluctant to suspect the worst, Simon's gut tells him something is desperately wrong. His instincts prove correct and a blistering race against time is ignited when they discover Sparkes has been shot. The search is on to find him before the clock counts down. When a terminally ill woman dies in the arms of her husband, Waverley hands Jennifer a case that could make or break the young detective's career. This sticky dilemma is compounded by Jennifer's sneaking suspicion that she's been set up.
