Born in 1982 in Auckland, now based in Berlin, Simon Denny is widely recognised as one of today's most innovative young artists. His work explores digital technology, corporate culture and state power. His installations combine sculpture, graphics, and moving images, looking at technology both as a force for good and as something more sinister. He was invited to the 2008 Sydney Biennale and the 2009 Brussels Biennale and won the Baloise Art Prize at Art Basel in 2012. In the seventeenth episode of Brilliant Ideas, brought to you by Bloomberg and Hyundai Motor, we catch up with Denny ahead of the unveiling of his commission representing New Zealand at the 2015 Venice Biennale.
