When the Tollan refuse to share technology, even after SG-1 saved the planet from a Goa'uld attack, Jack gets angry and steals a device from them. Jack does not see how that was wrong, and can choose between court martial or early retirement. He prefers the retirement, and is contacted by Colonel Maybourne. Maybourne tells Jack that there is an offworld base that has a few teams that retrieve alien technology the hard way when the SG teams fail to do so the diplomatic way. Jack requests to be sent to Eudora to retire. From there he then dials Maybourne's offworld base to become a team leader there.
