24-year-old gardener Tom Hart Dyke has been backpacking around the world for nearly two years when, just weeks before going home, his dream trip turns into a living nightmare. Kidnapped by armed guerrillas on the Colombian border, he's held hostage in the jungle for nine months. Infested with flesh-eating worms and repeatedly beaten, he will be killed unless a five-million-pound ransom is paid.
