The Bidding Room

S01E01 Episode 1

Today in the Bidding Room Nigel welcomes four people with intriguing pieces they'd like to sell - including a piece of hair-dressing history, a beloved toy, some classic furniture and something saved from the tip.

To help them before they face the dealers, Nigel introduces them to resident valuation expert Simon, who runs his own auction house. Simon will provide the sellers with specialist information about each item's history and an educated valuation. Armed with this knowledge, the sellers are guided by Nigel through to the bidding room, where they'll face five eager dealers ready to spend some money.

The dealers have no idea who is going to walk in or what they'll be selling, but if it's something they want, they'll have to bid against each other to secure the deal. The sellers will need to keep their heads and haggle hard if they want a bidding war to break out.

First through the doors is Paul from Devon with an unusual item of hairdressing memorabilia: will the dealers work out what it is? And can Paul get a good price for it?

Also facing the dealers is Belinda from Salford, with an item salvaged from the rubbish which she hopes will make a weighty deal.

Third up is Ged, who's brought a classic piece of industrial furniture which he hopes will be a draw with the dealers.

Finally, Matthew from Bradford has brought a beloved toy that he hopes will bring a final piece of joy to its late owner.

The dealers in today are Adi, Ian, James, Jane and Tash. So will any of them spend? And if they do, will any of them match - or even top - the valuation placed on each of the items?
