Ian West has called the doctor as Carol has fallen ill and is in danger of losing their baby. The doctor advises her that she needs to get to hospital for some tests. Ruth's estranged husband is back to apologise for his former girlfriend's intrusion, and she takes the opportunity to persuade him to sell their home. Jim is struggling to cope without alcohol and is close to falling of the wagon just as his son pays him a visit.
