The screenplay of the 17th. Bolzano crime embeds the nifty crime in a family drama about fraud and extortion. Oliver Mommsen impressively embodies a cunning manipulator that is increasingly becoming the focus of the investigation. During morning jogging, Sonja Schwarz ( Chiara Schoras ) finds a woman's body in an irrigation canal: It is Therese Pfister ( Hanna Binder ), which belongs to a fruit growing dynasty. It seems impossible from the start that it could have drowned in the shallow water of a Waal, as the natural canals of fruit growers are called. The „ Waaler " Urban Mazur ( Saro Emirze ) is suspected because he discovered the dead before the Commissioner and ran away. Together with her colleague Jonas Kerschbaumer ( Gabriel Raab ), the investigator also focuses on family connections. That Therese's marriage to the economically unsuccessful farmer Bruno ( Sebastian Gerold ) was anything but happy, is as much a starting point as clear evidence of the affair with her wealthy brother-in-law Gernot ( Jan Messutat ).
When a fire breaks out on the farm of Therese's parents, whom her older brother Johannes ( Oliver Mommsen ) took over as a sole heir, an undiscovered crime appears. Now Sonja is beginning to take up a trail that leads to bitter family conflicts.
