Di Pogson tragically lost her husband shortly before their 30th wedding anniversary. Two years later Di joins an online dating site. Soon she's messaged by Kevin Thompson. There's an instant connection.
Before they can meet in person, he must travel to Shanghai for work and that's when the requests for money begin.
Initially Kevin asks for a few hundred pounds, but the costs start spiralling.
Eventually Di gives him more than £40,000. After Kevin fails to meet with Di, she goes to the police. Detectives follow the money and discover that Kevin is actually a gang of criminals, operating a sophisticated con.
