Jay concludes his exploration of the history of London's East End, this time focusing on the 20th century and life in the East End during the Second World War. He meets with local historian Kate Thompson, who paints a picture of how areas such as Bethnal Green coped during the blitz, before 93-year-old Babs Clark tells him the story of how 173 people were crushed to death in what was one of the worst civilian tragedies of the war. Later, he meets former Krays firm member Chris Lambrianou at the notorious Blind Beggar pub to get an insider's take on the infamous Kray twins, before making his way to Canary Wharf to see how parts of London have been completely transformed over the decades.
