Liisi, a former local girl who has lived in America for the past five years arrives back to her local village in central Estonia. Liisi is only back briefly in order to sell the house that she has just inherited from her great-grandmother before she returns back to America. After a short time back "home", Liisi decides to stay and decides she will repair the house and live in the village. The whole village is in shocked by her decision, and this starts a chain of events that offers a lot of both laughter and tears.
