After another successful robbery, repeat offender Sasha Medny flees Moscow by train to share the loot with an accomplice in Vladivostok. Plans change when the criminal accidentally steals the uniform, documents and identity of his compartment neighbor, Major Gavrilov. Medny comes out halfway and gets used to the role of the chief of police of the sleepy town of Ust-Shakhtinsk, whose residents are in for big changes.
