The series' plot takes place in September 2021, six months before the full-scale war with Russia. Young boys and girls from different parts of Ukraine, each for their reasons, enter the National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Some continue a family tradition, others join for the company of a school friend, and some make this decision after completing their military service. The cadets' mentor, ATO hero Ivan Krynytskyi, uses his methodology to turn newcomers into real combat officers.
