The Danube River passes ten countries on its nearly 1900-mile journey from the German Black Forest to the Black Sea. British correspondent Nick Thorpe has lived by the river for more than half his life. Now he travels against the current and hopes to find "Europe's lost heart" in the meeting with the people, the cities and nature.
