1994. Twelve-year-old Vasya and seven-year-old Nadya are sent to live with their uncle's family after their parents are killed by creditors for unpaid debts. Their father tried to start his own business and paid for it with his life. Their uncle, the deceased's brother, is a former party worker who hid from reality in alcohol. Vasya and Nadya decide to escape from a family where scandals and fights are the norm and start a new life in Moscow. Ten years later, they still have not forgotten their difficult childhood.
